November Newsletter – Janaka Foundation in 2011

Dear friend,
As the end of 2011 draws near, you may find it a good time to complete your estate planning. Spending time with family and friends during the holidays, helps us to remember why such planning is important and who it will benefit when we are no longer here.
Over these next few months:

These are simple ways you can provide for those you care about and support the organizations that  represent your ideals.

6th Annual Janaka Legacy Fellowship Tea,  August 2011

Janaka Tea 2011, Crystal Hermitage

Jyotish and Devi both spoke at this year’s tea, reminding us of the importance of Ananda’s mission to the world at this time, and how relevant Yogananda’s teachings are to many of the obstacles faced by society today.

New Projects Completed in 2011 to Serve You better!
In 2011 the Janaka Foundation was able to move ahead with several projects that we hope will help you in doing your estate planning.

1. New Janaka Foundation Website
launched at the beginning of February 2011. At the top of the Home page, under the dropdown menu for “Support Ananda’s Future,” you will find four areas that may be helpful to your estate planning:
- How to Give – which describes types of estate giving.
- Make Your Gift a Reality – which gives you the steps you can take to complete your gift.
- Endowment Giving – which describes what an endowment is and the areas of Ananda represented by endowment funds at this time.
- Definition of Terms – which gives definitions for some of the more commonly used terms in estate planning.

2. Will Kit (found on the Janaka website home page) will help you in many aspects of your planning. The Will Kit Contains:
- A Guide to Planning Your Will
- Will Fact Sheet
- Bequest Language
- Beneficiary Designation
- Planned Gift Notification Form
- Do You Need a New Will?
- Additional Steps in Your Planning
Please take a look at these helpful tools. And feel free to call or email Parvati@janakafoundation.org at the Janaka office for further help.

3. Community Endowment Funds Established

In 2011 the Janaka Foundation board

Ananda Seattle Community

established five new endowment funds for the US-based Ananda Communities: Ananda Palo Alto, Ananda Portland, Ananda Sacramento, Ananda Seattle, and Ananda Village. These funds focus on Yogananda’s World Brotherhood Colony ideal and the commitment Ananda has to fulfilling this part of his mission.
